RCX and NXT Robots
Objectives
- View videos of Lego Mindstorm robots made and programmed by others and posted on youtube.
This assignment must be done individually. Create a new Microsoft Word or text document named YourUserName-A8.docx
As you know in this course, we are learning about the the wider field of robotics, not just programming of robots. This assignment is designed to invite your explorations regarding what is possible with the RCX robots and with the NXT robots. Please note that searching for the acronyms RCX or NXT alone may give you a bunch of completely irrelevant hits--using these irrelevant hits cannot be given any credit because they will not be useful in thinking about what you can do with our robotic platforms. So, please do a more nuanced search and be sure to watch only videos which show Lego Mindstorm robots of the RCX and NXT types.
- Required: Go to youtube and search on the RCX robot, and watch at least four of the most interesting RCX robot videos. List the RCX robot URLs watched in your report, and write one sentence about what each video showed.
- Required: Go to youtube and search on the NXT robot, and watch at least four of the most interesting NXT robot videos. List the NXT robot URLs watched in your report, and write one sentence about what each video showed.
- Required: After doing the above required viewings, do the following in YourUserName-A8:
- Choose the most interesting RCX robot video and write a paragraph explaining in detail what makes it interesting to you. If there are sensors or actuators or types of programming which we have not used, please comment on these.
- Choose the most interesting NXT robot video and write a paragraph explaining in detail what makes it interesting to you. If there are sensors or actuators or types of programming which we have not used, please comment on these.
